ARSMKS 001 - Mt. Kenya Climbing

Sirimon Route.
Day 1.
Nairobi-Nanyuki
Depart
Nairobi in the morning after
breakfast arriving Nanyuki for lunch. The rest of
the day is spent acclimatizing. Dinner and overnight
at a selected Hotel.
Day 2.
Nanyuki-Old Moses Hut(3500m)
Depart
Nanyuki for Sirimon Gate, after check in begin
hiking for about 5hours through rain forest to old
Moses mountain hut. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 3.Old
Moses-Shipton Hut(4200m)
Today climb
4,200m at shipton hut, directly below point Lenana
Peak, the climb provides some amazing vistas of
snow-covered peaks. Dinner and overnight at
Hut.(6-7hours).
Day 4.
Shipton-Old Moses
Arise before
dark and leave for the final climb to point Lenana
at 4,985m (17,058ft). After enjoying the incredible
views and the success of reaching the top, descend
back for Moses Camp, Dinner and overnight.
Day 5.
Old Moses-Nairobi
After
breakfast depart for Nairobi
arriving in the afternoon.

6 Days-Naro-Moru Route.
Day1.
Nairobi-Naro-moru
Depart
Nairobi in the morning after
breakfast and drive towards Naro-moru arriving in
time for lunch. Dinner and overnight in a selected
Hotel/Hostel to start acclimatizing.
Day 2.
Naro-moru- Met Station
After
breakfast, drive to Noru-moru gate on a dirt road
and begin hiking through rain forest to Met Station
at an altitude of 10,000ft.Dinner and overnight.
Day 3.
Met Station- Mackinders Hut
Depart Met
station after breakfast and hike up to the
Teleki
Valley
and to Mackinders Hut where there is a spectacular view of the main
peaks. Walking time approximately 4-6 hours. Meals
and overnight at Mackinders Hut.(14000ft).
Day 4.
Mackinders Hut-Austrian Hut
Depart
Mackinders Hut after breakfast ascending along a
steep screw to Austrian Hut (4700m) 3 hours. Dinner
and overnight at the Hut.
Day 5.
Point Lenana-Chogoria
Depart at
around 5:30 am
and proceed through Lewis Glaciers to point Lenana
(4985m) arriving at approximately 6:30am
(1 hour). After sunrise Descend to Mintos Hut for
full Breakfast. After breakfast descend along the
famous Gorges
Valley
to Chogoria campsite. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6.
Chogoria-Nairobi
Take breakfast,
depart for Chogoria approx.30km.In bad weather 4WD
drive vehicles are provided, climbers have to walk
for some distance as vehicles may not reach the
Bandas.From Chogoria you will drive to Nairobi
arriving late afternoon

ARSMKS 003- Mt. Kenya Climbing

10 Days Chogoria Route Traverse Sirimon
Day 1.
Pick up at
airport, welcomed and transfer to the Hotel. Dinner
and overnight.
Day 2.
Leave early
in the morning to Chogoria route a journey of 4
hours arriving at
11:00 o’clock , Have a picnic lunch and
start hiking through the rain forest with Bamboo
trees, until you cover a distance of 16kms and camp
in the dense forest. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3.
After
breakfast depart with picnic lunch at around 8:30 am
hike through rain forest to Chogoria Meru Bandas,
16kms walk arriving at
4:00 o’clock , dinner and overnight.
Day 4.
Leave at 8:30 am
, after breakfast through giant hithers and hygenia
trees, to Lake
Ellis
where you will camp 14km,you camp here because of the availability
of water.
Day 5.
Early in the
morning after breakfast, leave at around 7:30 am
towards rocky steep ridge, a journey of 17kms walk
and descend to valley Gorge, where we will be
camping at Lake Michaelson.Dinner and overnight.
Day 6.
Leave at 8:00 am
to a very steep ridge George’s valley, until we come
across the steep scree upto Austrian hut 4750m.
Dinner and overnight
Day 7.
After tea
and biscuit, start ascending to the summit of point
Lenana 4985m, 1 hour walk, for the sunrise. After
the sunrise, descend via Austrian hut, pick circuit
to Shipton camp, dinner and overnight.
Day 8.
After
morning breakfast descend to Sirimon gate 23kms
walk, although we will be having lunch on the way.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 9.
Morning
breakfast and descend to the main road 10kms walk
and connect a bus to Mountain Rock Hotel/campsite.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 10.
Early in the
morning, transfer (3.5 hrs) to
Nairobi and onwards to the
Airport depending on your departure time.
